Bretwood Recap: Two Champions Crowned, Standings Tighten, and Skins Everywhere
Bretwood Delivers Another Great Day
What a day we had at Bretwood! The weather couldn't have been much better, the course was in outstanding condition, and judging by the scores...well, let's just say Bretwood won a few battles.
With the event split between the North and South courses, we ended up crowning two champions.
On the North Course, Mike Bomberg fired rounds of 76/66 to claim the title.
On the South Course, Ricky Dichard put together one of the rounds of the season, shooting 3-under-par 69 on his way to a 69/67 victory.
Both players have now earned their second Live Free Golf victory of the season. The only logical explanation? Clearly some very suspect handicapping...it couldn't possibly be that they played incredible golf. Congratulations to both Mike and Ricky on another impressive win!
Season Standings
The race for the season championship continues to tighten.
Scott Smith still sits atop the standings, holding a three-point lead over Ricky Dichard. Ricky's win helped close the gap, but Scott continues to show remarkable consistency week after week.
It was a tougher day for Jim Tokanel, who slipped several spots in the overall standings after missing an opportunity to gain ground.
Because Bretwood was a 36-hole event, the season standings are displayed a little differently than usual. Your combined points from both rounds are reflected as a single event, representing both rounds together. As a result, you'll see five asterisks next to your completed events instead of six.
Looking ahead, I expect the standings to continue bunching up as we approach the playoffs. Our leaders have accumulated so many points that it becomes increasingly difficult for them to separate themselves further. At the same time, their consistent finishes keep everyone else from making huge moves up the leaderboard, so every event becomes even more important.
