2026 Colony Cup Recap — Mount Snow

2026 Colony Cup Recap — Mount Snow

What a weekend at Mount Snow — the 2026 Colony Cup delivered competitive golf, plenty of camaraderie, and a decisive result. Team Impact Fire (Red) toppled last year’s champions Team Fastenal (Blue) with a final score of 197.5 to 180.5, a clear margin that reflected both strong team strategy and some excellent ball striking over two days.

Saturday: three 9-hole team formats — momentum shifts

Saturday featured our traditional trio of 9‑hole team matches: Scramble, Best Ball, and Chapman. The day started with the usual energy and trash talk, and both teams traded solid shots through the morning.

After the Best Ball, the overall team totals were deadlocked — neither side could claim an early edge. Impact Fire, however, seized control in the Chapman. The Red team’s coordination and short-game execution in that format created separation, and they closed out Saturday up by 6 points. That cushion proved meaningful heading into Sunday’s singles.

Sunday singles: strokes win the day

Sunday’s 18 holes of singles match play turned into a showcase for Impact Fire. Over the 12 singles matches, Impact Fire won 6, Team Fastenal won just 2, and there were 4 draws. Those results extended Impact Fire’s advantage and widened the final margin considerably.

A recurring theme of the weekend was how strokes influenced outcomes. Team Fastenal was giving strokes in both team play and singles — 10 strokes in team play and 12 in singles — and while that helped keep many matches close, it ultimately wasn’t enough. Impact Fire’s ability to capitalize when it mattered, particularly in matches that came down to a few holes, made the difference. When the dust settled, the scoreboard read 197.5 to 180.5 in favor of Impact Fire.

Looking ahead

Team Fastenal, as last year’s champions and runners-up this time, will be invited back to defend their title next year against the next 12 best golfers from the coming season. We’ll be watching the leaderboard all year to see who earns a shot at the Cup next time.

Thanks to everyone who played, scored, and cheered — and to Mount Snow for hosting. Whether you were on the winning side or cheering from the gallery, weekends like this are what our league is all about: fierce competition, good company, and plenty of golf stories to tell until the next Cup.
