Rob Wenrich picked the right day to shoot the best round of his life as he fires a Gross 86 and overcomes a 6 shot deficit to beat out Jim Tokanel and Chad Lawrence who tied for 2nd at -6 Net. Jim, who played great golf all season started the day with the lead over the field due to the shots given with his prior season results, even with playing some great golf and winning the gross event by 6 strokes was not enough to hold on to the title.
"Got to hand it to Rob, who played his personal best on the perfect day" Tokanel said after the match and although he was disappointed he did not take down the title he was happy for Rob.
Wenrich made the turn at 33, and then went on a run with a birdie net eagle on 10, and birdied on 12.13,16 and an eagle on 17 closed out the deal for him as he fired a very respectful gross 41 on a difficult back side at The Owls Nest Golf Club and Resort. In an interesting stat Wenrich made 0 pars on the back 9 but avoided the blow up holes as he fired 2 birdies to go along with his 7 birdies.
What a great season it has been and we are already looking forward to 2024, Congrats Goober and good luck next season with that Target on your back!
