Corey Hayes Wins Amherst Doubleday Classic

Corey Hayes, playing the wrong sport.

Corey Hayes who came in at -1 and just 3 shots off the lead coming into the day went real low and shot a Career Best 87 on his way to a net 60 -12 to finish the tournament at -13 and 2 shots ahead of 2nd place finisher Ethan Hurley. Ethan who shot an 89 had a great weekend, with a 94/89 over the past 2 days to finish at -11. The Doubleday Classic provided some excitement for the players down the stretch as Hurley, whether or not he know it was 1 up going into the final hole of the day. With a tough 9 on a challenging 18th and Hayes surviving and making bogey led him to a 2 stroke victory. Robert Wenrich played well all weekend and finished 3rd while Dan Goodwin and Jimmy Tokanel rounded out the top 5.

Congratulations to Marc Johnson who broke 80 for his first time in his career as he fired a 40/39 79 yesterday. It was a pleasure to get to play with him and watch him play some of the best golf of his life. Great round kid.
