2019 Season Recap

As fast as it came, it went, a statement I have heard far too often, and also one that describes the 2019 LFG Season. First of all I would like to thank Ryan McElhinney for absolutely killing it down in Mass and growing a league overnight as well as anyone possibly could. Now that that’s out of the way let’s move on to some real business.

Champions: Congratulations to Eric White, and Jamie Ahlgren for taking down the titles this year. The Mass boys decided to have the Championship just like the PGA and awarded points to the players prior to the final round to keep more players in contention and it sure made things interesting. With Jeff Keyes, who had scored very well in every event holding including winning 3 events throughout the year which is an incredible feat leading the way. Unfortunately, Jeff could not finish it out and struggled in the ship that helped Ahlgren catapult to the title. Both players will be key factors 10 days from now as we open up the Colony Cup.

Eric White, who had 2 victories throughout the year won a big playoff event and numerous high finishes built him a nice lead throughout the playoffs. It did not come without a little tension as Eric also struggled to put it away and leave without a doubt as he finished 16th in the championship and left the door open. Tom Boland who finished 2nd in the finale as well as the season long race was just 2 shots from behind taking down the season title. As always, remember every spot throughout the year truly does make a difference.

Colony Cup: Next weekend New Hampshire will be hosting first annual Colony Cup as 16 players from Mass will make the trek to their Neighbor on the North to play 5 9 hole match events with 27 holes being played at Canterbury Woods on Saturday, and 18 holes at Lochmere on Sunday. If anyone is free and wants to come watch. should be a hell of a time. NH is the Clear favorite right now because I am writing this and is coming in at -125.

Fall Season: NH Will have 3 fall events. A 2 man Scramble this weekend at Amherst CC. October 12th we are Scheduled to play at Pembroke Pines, and we are looking to Schedule a final event for Saturday October 26th weather permitting. Keep those dates open.

Thank you to Impact Fire, Assurance Safety, Crown Trophy and New England Glass and Mirror for all the help this year. Special thanks to Izzo Golf and Callaway who came up clutch for me a few times on short notice to make sure we had what we needed to help grow the league. Last but not least, thanks to Joe and Leigh. I do not know them personally but it sounded like were a huge help to our Mass league, truly appreciated.

With a full off season to plan, and my retirement from Softball. Expect some big things next year for us. Please spread the word and let’s continue to expand.

We are always open to ideas to help grow and make this league the best league around to always speak up and let us know what we can do to give you the best golf experience. There is still plenty of time to golf this year, so get out there and swing it and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
