Bryson DeChambeau will putt with pin in next Year
Bryson DeChambeau likes to leave the pin in whenever he can. Under golf’s new rules for 2019 that will mean he can leave it in all the time.
Speaking with GOLF.com at a recent photoshoot, DeChambeau was asked about his current preference to leave in the pin, even when he’s close to the green or putting from the fringe. As ever with DeChambeau, his decision is the result of careful calculation.
“It depends on the COR, the coefficient of restitution of the flagstick,” he said. “In U.S. Opens, I’ll take it out, and every other Tour event, when it’s fiberglass, I’ll leave it in and bounce that ball against the flagstick if I need to.”
Well, there you have it. Bryson will be putting with the flag in next year and I for one do not hate the idea. In simple logic, it makes some sense on those short putts. I guess you can be a little more aggressive with those testers and just hammer it off the flag stick and just let it fall in. As long as you hit it square that will work well, if you dont hit it square or just miss everything completely then your screwed.
Mainly Bryson is just going to look like an asshole and create more work for his or another players caddy as he will be continuously asking for the flag to be put back in. Grow up Bryson and just putt with the flag like a normal.
We will see how it works out…
